Comics, a sharp stick to my eye.

Just a small photo of the art I'm putting in the Anthrocon art show this weekend. The tiny images in the center are the tiny paintings on wood that have been giving me sooo much trouble for the past 2 weeks. But now they are finished and sealed and awesome. Here is a close up of them. =^_^=

The top image is a couple of Dancing puke cats and the bottom one is of the cat that dreams of swimming riding a huge catfish. It only took me a day to make the painting part but it took me close to two weeks to find a good sealer. After much effort and help from many friends and from the awesome girl at the art store I now have an Acrylic sealer to finally seal this pesky wood art that I make. Oh god but it smells, I'm still airing them out on my friend's porch area. I actually sealed these images with 3 different sealers but thankfully this final one has done the trick and it makes the images look very nice and now they don't stick to stuff. Which are things that are good in a sealer. I am pleased.
These were originally the wood that some brands of fish cakes are sold on... the idea of painting cats on fish makes me very amused. Does anyone any left over fish cake wood they'd be willing to send me to paint on? I sort of like this awkward odd size. =D | comments: 2 hits or Hit me! |

I had to look up when the comic industry started to use computer coloring cause I wasn't sure. I'm sort of surprised it's so recent. I wish most of this comic wasn't just repeating conversations I've overheard in comic shop or read on the internet. The comment about Pokemon and manga style though was something told to me by an editor at one point a few years ago. Fun times.

| | I'm heading to Anthrocon next month and I made some cute pictures out of some scrap wood I had laying around. But now that I've painted them using acrylics I have no idea how to seal them. Does anyone have any ideas? | comments: 4 hits or Hit me! |

LOL, aww kids. And thus the circle of adults dealing with kids and kids dealing with adults is complete. =D
Lol, most artists I know could use a tan... hides in my house.

Ugh, sorry for the double comic post, I managed to update the webcomic site last Wednesday but then my computer hard drive suddenly stopped working and I forgot to update here. Thankfully my poor iMac is still under warranty so I was able to get it repaired. It's weird that it died since it was only a year and 3 months old. At first, I thought it was okay and that the info on the hard drive wasn't important. But the more I'd think about it the more I realized just what was on that computer. All of the My Muse pages are on it and my taxes and so much more. I got really down over it but thankfully they were able to access the drive and copy my stuff. Haaaaa. I'm so relieved. I still need to check the data to be sure everything's okay. | comments: 8 hits or Hit me! |
| A-kon was really good this year... which I'm posting as if it's news because even I didn't realize that I made close to 3 times what I made last year until I got home and checked the numbers. Woot, estimated tax money and health care! The laminated signs and extra larger weird cat prints really seemed to help draw people into the booth to get clobbered by both me and Shawnna's adorable buttons and art. My most popular piece of art for people to stare at and point friends to, was this image of the "Cat Puking Kittens" from the new Catalyst folio.

Speaking of the Catalyst folio, YAY! Oh my god, it printed soo nicely. I got the book from the printer and ran around the house showing it to both of my cats... they seemed to like sleeping on it. The paper is all smooth and glossy and the printing is very rich and sharp. I'm so happy with them. It's 16 pages of weird kitties doing odd things in a convenient 5.5" x 8.5" inch size. Look I offer photos!
It has a wrap around cover!

Meow World! A 4-page comic of adorable alien cats flying space ships in the shape of cat heads.

And here's a link where you can order this folio: Catalyst! Also there more photos and links to some of the cat images inside the folio. Um, it's weird!
In other news my iMac's hard drive exploded... freak death, it just stopped working and now it won't boot. Thankfully I'm totally covered by Apple Care so, woot, free hard drive. The only bad part is they're not sure they can save my important data from the dying drive. I have to cross my fingers and hope that I can backup most of the new My Muse comics, some of my prints/art, and hopefully my tax info for last year when I take it back in. Thankfully, I do most of my art work on my laptop. Which reminds me I really need to back up some data on that computer. Sigh. Well, at least I'm not paying for the repair. | comments: 5 hits or Hit me! |
| I'm finishing stuff here before I take off for A-kon, which is an anime convention this weekend in Dallas. Me and Shawnna have a Komik Market table right next to the escalators in the main hall, A-8 supposedly.
I just got the Catalyst folio back from the printer, it printed really great, and I finally have new business cards. I'll also have huge giant prints of some of my weird cats (Like the pancats, flower cat, and cat puking kittens... I really need to post some art when I get back from the con) and a few new buttons. So I'm full of new cool things to buy. Come by and chat me up... er you know in the talking type way.
Ugh, sadly I ran out photo paper and can't print any more small prints. Con struggles. Oh shit, I should go to the bank soon. | comments: 1 hit or Hit me! |

More My Muse characters, every comic needs some kids right? Okay, okay, I'm kidding, these guys were designed for an upcoming muse comic that I haven't posted yet. When I create new characters for my comics I tend to draw them a few times to get a feel for how they should look. So, I also did this little marker version of them to post. You can probably tell what these kids are going to be talking about in the comic, right? Well, you might be surprised. =D

| I was on Ustream working on a cat vomiting kittens... yeah what can I say my brain is odd. It's one of the last images I'm doing for my new weird cats folio.
Here's a video of the ustream!

| Edit: I'm finished for now... argh the stupid flower part is taking forever. =[
Watch the videos! Vase Cat part 1 Vase cat part 2
I'm glad I didn't record the sad struggle that I had making the glass vase cat part. That took a long time for what it was. I mean really. =/ But I do like what I have there now and it sort of works even better now I have a large part of the background in. End Edit.
I'm on Ustream for a little bit.
I'm working on a vase cat... thingy deal, stuff. It's odd it's all part of the weird cat thing I'm struggling to finish. | comments: Hit me! |

Another one of the My Muse characters, this one is Princess. She hasn't gotten much face time in the comic so far... would that make this a spoiler? Anyway she is the girl on fire in the contract cobra strip and she shows up later in some of the other pages I have been working on. I am actually quite a bit ahead on the My Muse comic but I'm sadly doing some of it out of order... LOL planning, watch me suck at it.
In this image she's wearing one of the old shirts that I use to wear although this version doesn't have sleeves. I dressed Lavender in this shirt as well for issue #5 of the mini series... I probably shouldn't recycle my fashion into my characters more then once. =/

| I went to Japan over Christmas and I was going to write about my adventures and post a bunch of pictures that I took but then I got rather busy and lazy. While I was cleaning my room to find my receipts for tax time I ran into these two products that brought home from the trip and I thought I'd mention language and my lack of understanding of beauty products both here and in Japan.
While in Japan I discovered that my skin reacted badly to the shift in weather and humidity. So, I ventured out of my hotel and next door to the local Lawson, Lawson is a 24 hour convenience store... which is actually convenient and awesome. I don't even like egg salad sandwiches and I liked theirs. Also they'd fry chicken bits while you wait.
I went over to Lawson and tried to buy lotion only to face a shelf of beauty products none of which was called lotion. So, I ended up buying the wrong product... which is not surprising. While I CAN read some Japanese, it had been a very long time since I had really studied the language. And I hardly buy beauty products even in the US so I totally failed to understand the basic differences. =/

I managed to buy the lotion later with help from Marcy.
Ha ha ha, everyone is smarter than me... //// Answer is here! | comments: 9 hits or Hit me! |
| Edit: Woot and I'm finished broadcasting. I managed to get a chunk of one of the images roughed out. =D Was fun to talk to people and work away at stuff.
I'm going to be on Ustream around 2 PM this Saturday. http://www.ustream.tv/channel/dxsmachina
I'm planning a color booklet of cute images of odd cats. I'm going to be painting some of my sketches in Photoshop so you guys can come by and watch me try to figure out the texture of pancakes. Don't ask. I'll probably be working for about 2 hours but we'll see... hopefully I can get Superwebcam to work on my tablet PC. =/

| I finally located the combo version of my first entry in the Udon Darkstalkers contest. This is the one that didn't make it into the tribute book so I can post it for you all to see.

Even though I can't show you the final version of the image that did make it into the tribute book I can show you a preview of it. In the form of my super rough sketch version that I drew to figure out what I wanted the image to look like. The final version is much cooler than this tiny thing.

I still can't believe I thought doing a 5 character image with a giant sunflower and background was a good idea right before the deadline. =/
Cough, also there's this image that I did before I did the Darkstalker stuff that i haven't had any idea what to do with. My friend Sterling made a joke about this and I sort of ran with it... sorry Sterling. I'm sort of wondering if posting this isn't sort of like showing up at the end of a party after everyone has already gone home. But what the hell...

LOL... it's suppose to say "CLASSY" but the word shape seems a little weird so I'm letting you know, it is in fact: Classy. D=
Taxes are killing me but I think I've finally got it on the run. Yay. Go away taxes!
I now have a twitter... but I have no idea what I'm doing with it at all. You can check it out over here: http://twitter.com/dianasprinkle/

| Messing around with these 4 pages I have in various states of almost inked.

Edit: Yay, I'm done. My set up for Ustreaming gives me a crick in my neck. I need to download the program that lets me stream stuff off of my computer screen instead and do some coloring. Less neck craning.
